  1. The Killing of Jesus was a wonderful historical fiction read. O'Reilly did a great job telling the story of Jesus and his death. What I liked most about this book was the facts about how this society was run and why the Roman's and Jews did what they did. It was interesting to me how both the Jews and the Roman's both wanted power and wealth. The Pharisees and Sadducee s were suppose to be the Holier then people, by upholding Jewish Religious Laws, but the truth is that they wanted power also. The Romans allowed the Jewish people to observe their religious beliefs and helped to uphold Jewish laws because it brought in a lot of money for them. The hierarchy of of Rome and it's brutal punishments for their own people and to the Jewish people. Some of the accounts in this book were graphic. No wonder God sent Jesus at this time. Although this is not a religious book it helped me greatly to understand society at this time and brought the Bible even more to life for me.
