Just finished Little Bee by Chris Cleave. It's such a sad story. It's hard to imagine having to flee your home for safety and then when you go somewhere safer they tell you that you have to go back. This book was well written but it does pull at the heart. It is a fiction novel but the realities of a refugee in the UK are real. If you read this book be ready to cry and pray. The sad part is the conflict in this country was over oil. We live in a greedy world.
I have not been able to finish Little Bee yet, but I am working on it. I agree. Very sad.
ReplyDeleteA couple of thoughts I've had so far...
* I feel like I'd rather be reading a biography or autobiography because I find myself wondering about how true this story really could be.
* I wonder if because it is a novel the details are "easier to stomach". Maybe not?
* I also would love to hear a refugee's perspective on this story.
* If nothing else, while reading this book, I would hope that one's perspective on life would be challenged that stories like this are real and that she would be moved to pray for those who do live in terror.
* On a surfacey note, I could do without the foul language.
